EUGENE, OR (KPTV) -

Just days before the season kicks off, a University of Oregon football player has been suspended.

Torrodney Prevot is a senior defensive lineman for the Ducks, but Friday night the school announced that he had been suspended.

According to student newspaper "The Daily Emerald," Prevot is under investigation for assault.

The newspaper reports that Eugene police are investigating a claim from a former University of Oregon athlete who said Prevot assaulted her two times earlier this year.

Prevot played at linebacker in all 13 games for Head Coach Mark Helfrich last season.

Helfrich sent out a statement on the suspension Friday night.

“Torrodney Prevot has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of University and Department of Athletics codes of conduct.  At the conclusion of the University process, his status as a student-athlete will be evaluated further.”
