PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Dozens of volunteers gave up part of their Saturday to help clean up some Portland Public Schools.

Project Community Care Day events were held at several schools Saturday morning.

One of the cleanups happened at Harrison Park School in Southeast Portland.

50 volunteers, many of which were from Imago Dei Church, helped clean up the school.

Classes for students begin on Monday.

People pulled weeds, painted and spread bark dust.

Bekah Shaw is one of the organizers and says she hopes kids realize how special they are when they see the cleaned up school.

Cleanups were also held at Sabin School and Beverly Cleary Elementary.
