Police: One person injured after shooting at Essex Park in SE Portland

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Gang Enforcement Team is investigating a shooting that happened on Saturday in southeast Portland that left one person injured.

Just before 6:45 p.m., Portland police responded to multiple reports of gunfire at Essex Park, located at 7811 Southeast Center Street.

Officers arrived to the park and spoke to several witnesses who said that several people on foot in the park and in vehicles were firing guns and everyone scattered out of the area.

Police said there were several different family events happening in the park but were unrelated to the shooting.

No gunshot victims were found in the park, however, a gunshot victim arrived at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center at 9 p.m. suffering from a non-life threatening injury.

The Gang Enforcement Team is investigating the shooting.
