KELSO, WA (KPTV) -

A 40-year-old man was arrested Saturday night after he threatened to shoot four people, according to Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office.

Around 5:30 p.m. deputies were called out to a report of shots fired at 28 Alpha Drive.

Deputy Geary Enbody saw the shooter as he arrived on scene. Enbody and Deputy Brent Harris chased the man until he jumped into the Cowlitz River.

CCSO said the deputies ordered the man to swim to shore but he refused.

The shooter, Levi S. Godwin, was finally captured when a Kelso and Longview police officer got a ride from a boater in the area and went out and took Godwin in to custody.

CCSO said Godwin owned the home at 28 Alpha Drive. He and his girlfriend, Shylee Bartlett got into an argument while four other people were in the house. During the argument, Godwin pointed a 22 pistol at the other four people and told them if they didn't leave, he would shoot them.

As the people left, Godwin shot into the driveway, in an attempt to scare them away.

No one was injured.

Godwin was taken to the Cowlitz County Jail and charged with assault in the first degree, felon in possession of a firearm, and obstructing.
