BANKS, OR (KPTV) -

Crews closed Highway 26 in both directions near Banks for several hours after one person was killed in a deadly crash near Banks.

The Banks Fire District responded to the incident near Banks Road around 2:25 a.m. Monday.

Fire officials said  27-year-old James Worrell was speeding and somehow lost control of his Toyota Scion.

He was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said an empty bottle of Hemp-infused beer along with Cannabis was found inside the car. Cannabis prescription containers were strewn along the highway.

Officials believe intoxication and speed were most likely factors in the crash.

The closure lasted several hours. Crews reopened the road just after 5:40 a.m.
