PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Students at Roosevelt High School in Portland have already had a day off from class.

While other district schools resumed Monday, the school year at Roosevelt didn't start until Tuesday because of construction work.

School leaders toured renovations at the high school last week. Over the summer, the campus underwent the first phase of a four-step $100 million construction project.

The face-lift includes several new buildings with additional classrooms, as well as a new gym. The entire project won't be finished until January of 2018.

Roosevelt was open Monday afternoon for students to stop by to pick up their schedules and tour the new facilities before classes will then begin Tuesday morning.
