Crews respond to hotel fire in downtown Portland

Posted: Updated:

Firefighters responded to an early-morning blaze at a hotel in downtown Portland Wednesday.

Crews responded to the Joyce Hotel at the 300 block of Southwest 11th Avenue around 4:06 a.m.

There were reports of smoke coming from the 4th floor of the building.

Earlier in June, the Joyce Hotel was purchased by the Portland Housing Bureau to help provide temporary housing for the city's homeless population. There was previously a 90-day eviction notice issued to people in the building on Dec. 31, 2015.

More information will be posted as soon as it is available.
