ALBANY, OR (KPTV) -

An Albany couple is offering a reward for the return of their bulldog, who they said was stolen during a recent trip to Bagby Hot Springs.

Crystal Mahlberg-Hall said she and her husband, Chad, were getting ready to leave the hot springs Friday when they realized their car's battery was dead.

A man and woman they met earlier at the hot springs stopped to give them a jump and Mahlberg-Hall let her bulldog, Marley, off his leash to go to the bathroom.

Mahlberg-Hall said she left the dog and went to the bathroom herself.

It was raining at the time and Mahlberg-Hall said the unidentified couple called Marley over to their car to get him out of the rain.

Mahlberg-Hall said Marley jumped in the car and the couple disconnected the jumper cables, closed the doors and took off.

The couple was driving a silver Audi hatchback, according to Mahlberg-Hall.

Mahlberg-Hall said Marley is a therapeutic aid dog to her husband and also suffers from medical issues of his own and requires medication.

Mahlberg-Hall is offering a reward of $1,000 for Marley's return, no questions asked.

Oregon State Police said they are investigating the incident.

Stealing a pet in Oregon classifies as theft in the first degree, which is a Class C felony.
