PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Officers investigated numerous reports of gunfire overnight Sunday, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

At around 3:53 a.m. Sunday morning, officers responded to the 15900 block of East Burnside Street on the report of gunfire and a car on fire.

Officers and fire crews learned that someone used a fire extinguisher to put out the car fire, and numerous bullet holes were visible.

Police say a few minutes later, there were reports of gunfire in the area of Southeast 148th Avenue and Clinton Street.

When officers arrived, they found evidence of gunfire, but no victims or property damage.

At around 4 a.m., officers responded to the area of Southeast 141st Avenue and Division Street on the report that a neighbor awoke to find evidence of gunfire in the street. Police say no victims or property damage were found.

A few hours later, officers responded to the area of 115th Avenue and Powell Court on the report that someone shot at a man as he got out of his car.

The victim said that the suspect or suspects were in a gold or silver car, and shot at him for unknown reasons. Police say the man was not hit in the shooting.

Robert Cooper grew up in the neighborhood and said that a friend he was staying with was the person who was shot at.

"Someone randomly shot at him or at his vehicle," Cooper said. "I'm not sure, but it is kind of shocking because he has a wife and kids."

Cooper said over the years the neighborhood has changed.

"I liked growing up here, but seems to be nothing but drugs and gang violence nowadays which is unfortunate because I have kids I'm raising myself," he said.

Cooper added that something needs to be done to curb the gang problem on the east side of the city.

"I just wish they would tone it down a little bit so people that are raising kids don't have to worry every day about what's going on," he said.

The Gang Enforcement Team responded to investigate the first two shootings. It is not clear if the first two shootings are related, or if either shooting is related to the three other shootings.
