PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A suspect was arrested Friday in connection with an assault and shooting in July in northeast Portland.

Earl Lee Hillman, 19, was arrested following a traffic stop at Southeast 242nd Avenue and Stark Street in Gresham.

Officers said they seized a loaded handgun with an extended magazine from his vehicle.

Investigators said Hillman was involved in an assault that took place at the scene of a large party, fight and shooting at Northeast 55th Avenue and Prescott Street in Portland in the early morning hours of July 17. Two people were injured in the shooting.

The shooting was committed by a different person and remains under investigation, but Gang Enforcement Team detectives said they developed probable cause to arrest Hillman for third-degree assault.

Hillman was also booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a loaded firearm.

Hillman is scheduled to be arraigned in court Tuesday.

Anyone with additional information about the July 2016 shooting is asked to contact Detective Todd Teats at 503-823-2137 or todd.teats@portlandoregon.gov.
