PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police are investigating after a pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run crash in southeast Portland.

The incident occurred just before 8:45 p.m. Tuesday near Southeast 148th Avenue and Division Street.

Officers and medical personnel arrived on scene and found the male pedestrian suffering from traumatic injuries. He was taken to a Portland hospital to be treated, and his condition is unknown at this time.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, the preliminary investigation indicated that after hitting the pedestrian, the driver left the scene but returned and was providing aid to the pedestrian.

Before officers arrived, the driver left again and a woman came to the scene and drove away in the suspect vehicle, according to police.

The female driver led officers on a short pursuit before she crashed the vehicle at Southeast 150th Avenue and Main Street and was taken into custody.

Officers are searching the area for the driver, who is described as a Hispanic male in his early 40s.

Southeast 148th Avenue was briefly closed between Division and Main streets but has since been reopened.
