Portland police officers arrested a man Wednesday after he told a security officer he had explosives in his car.

The Portland Police Bureau said a security guard encountered a man at the Salpare Bay Marina on Northeast Yacht Harbor Drive around 5 a.m.

The man, 48-year-old David Chastain, claimed he had explosives inside his truck.

The Enhanced Crisis Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, Special Emergency Reaction Team and Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unity responded to the scene, according to PPB.

As officers were arriving, Chastain stepped out of his truck and surrendered to police.

He was issued criminal citations for criminal trespass and was transported to a Portland hospital for unrelated medical issues.
