SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A 25-year-old man was arrested in Salem after he attacked and bit a homeowner Wednesday night.

Marion County Sheriff's Office said around 6 p.m. they received a call from a homeowner who said an unknown man entered his house and he was fighting with the man trying to get him out of the house.

When deputies arrived to the home, located in the 3700 block of State Street Southeast, they found the homeowner and his teenage son holding down Mario Vega-Navarro.

Deputies tried to detain Vega-Navarro but he resisted. Two more deputies arrived to the location and put Vega-Navarro into a prone position.

MCSO said while deputies were trying to arrest Vega-Navarro, he continued to raise his body into a push up position, pull his hands away and bite at deputies.

After deputies were able to handcuff Vega-Navarro, paramedics medically sedated him and took him to the Salem Hospital.

The homeowner and his son sustained bites and bruises from Vega-Navarro.

After he is released from the hospital, Vega-Navarro will be taken to the Marion County Jail for charges of burglary in the first degree, assault in the fourth degree and resisting arrest.
