A man pointed a replica gun at employees of a Newport marijuana shop and pulled the trigger, according to police.

Officers responded to CannaMedicine on the 100 block of Northwest 15th Street at 2:40 p.m. Sunday.

Officers located the suspect near another business in the area and identified him as 30-year-old Edmund Louis Charles Day.

Police said Day is known to Newport officers from prior contacts. Day is a transient, originally from California.

Police said he was in possession of the replica firearm, as well as multiple "edged weapons."

Officers said he resisted arrest and was restrained by officers. He was then taken to the Lincoln County Jail where he was physically combative with deputies, according to police.

He was further restrained and booked on charges of menacing, disorderly conduct, assault on a public safety officer, interfering with a peace officer, second-degree robbery, felon in possession of a weapon and carry concealed-possession of knife.

Day's bail was set at $250,000.
