PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A new affordable housing complex is helping to ease Portland’s homeless crisis.

A grand opening was held Thursday for "Miracles Central," a six-story, 47-unit apartment building in the Lloyd District.

It was made possible by Central City Concern, a local non-profit that helps people impacted by homelessness, poverty and addictions, as well as the Miracles Club, which is a recovery-based organization.

Robert Lyday is staying there, and he says calling the new facility “Miracles Central” is not an understatement.

“I know that I don't have to do this by myself, and that's one of the things that actually stuck with me is that don't be afraid to ask for help,” he said. “It’s just been a wonderful experience for me, it's a miracle.”

The complex also includes on-site supportive services, including recovery support. The total cost of the project is $12.9 million.
