Timbers match with RSL 100th consecutive regular-season sellout at Providence Park

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

When the Portland Timbers take the pitch against Real salt Lake Saturday it will mark the 100th regular-season sellout for the team at Providence Park.

The streak began with the Timbers first game in Major League Soccer in 2011.

To celebrate the milestone, the team is giving the first 7,500 fans at the match will receive a special commemorative patch, and there will be special food and merchandise specials available, including a commemorative scarf.

Other fans got to celebrate the mark by taking a helicopter tour of Portland before the match,

With the fans in attendance Saturday, the Timbers will have hosted more than two million fans since joining Major League Soccer.

The club is currently in sixth place in the Western Conference, and after Saturday’s contest will only have two more regular season matches at home this season.
