DESCHUTES COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Search and rescue teams from the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office are looking for a hiker last seen Saturday.

Deputies say that Gerald Derrickson, 38, separated from his hiking partner Saturday and was thought to reach the summit around 6:00 p.m. but never returned to the trailhead.

The sheriff’s office is using ground search, mountain rescue, air operations and horseback teams to search for the missing hiker.

Derrickson is a black man, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs around 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, gray sweatpants with a black stripe and a bright read Portland Trail Blazers hat and was carrying a blue backpack.

Anyone with information on Derrickson’s current location or that saw him on the trails yesterday is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 541-693-6911.
