TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -

Police caught a wanted suspect in the Tigard area after a trooper was treated for pepper spray exposure that occurred in the initial attempts to arrest the man.

Firefighters responded to the area of Southwest 129th Avenue and Morningstar Drive on Tuesday afternoon to treat the Oregon State Police trooper.

Deputies said they were attempting to arrest a wanted man, but he managed to run away. It was not immediately clear if the trooper was hit with pepper spray by the suspect or another officer, but the Tigard Police Department tweeted that the suspect had assaulted a police officer.

He was captured at around 5 p.m. Deputies said the suspect had entered a home and was subdued by the homeowner following a brief scuffle.

The suspect's name was not immediately released by investigators.

Crews had been searching for him in the area of 129th and Morningstar Drive, as well as Southwest 132nd Terrace and Greenfield Drive.

FOX 12 has a crew on the way to the scene and will continue to update this story.
