PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A heated confrontation between anti-gay protesters and students was caught on camera outside Benton Polytechnic High School in northeast Portland.

Several protesters were outside the school when classes ended for the day Tuesday.

Video from the scene showed at least one protester holding a sign with a gay slur on it.

Students and protesters were seen yelling at each other and, at one point, a fight appeared to break out.

"I saw a lot of people with bruised arms, legs, cuts, I know that a couple went back into the school to go get help from the nurse. I've heard reports of choking, getting slammed against the walls," one student told FOX 12.

Officers responded to the scene and escorted the protesters out of the area. Nobody was arrested, according to police.

There was no word on why the protesters were outside the school on Tuesday.
