GLADSTONE, OR (KPTV) -

Opening statements for an ex-Gladstone police sergeant accused of murder will begin on Wednesday September 14.

The trial for former Sgt. Lynn Benton was postponed until Wednesday.

Benton is accused of hiring someone to kill his wife, Deborah Higbee-Benton, back in 2011 in her beauty salon.

Meanwhile, the woman he's accused of hiring to kill his wife, Susan Campbell took a plea deal in 2012. Last week, a judge vacated that plea, which means she could now face murder charges.

Campbell will not be speaking at Benton's trial.
