A car wreck suddenly ended Leanne Schrotzberger’s dream of completing her first IRONMAN. Fast forward a decade later, she’s going on to her fifth race, but this time she’s not racing for herself.
“When the going gets tough, I’ll keep hearing my dad’s voice saying just do your best,” she said.
It’s those words of encouragement that have kept the athlete going her entire life.
As a collegiate swimmer at Lewis and Clark College, she always excelled in the water. But it was her father-in-law who pushed her off the sidelines and into the race.
In 2006 Schrotzberger signed up for her first IRONMAN, but was severely injured in a car accident. She talks to MORE about learning to walk again and how she persevered to bounce back.
She opens up about losing three parents this year, and taking on IRONMAN Louisville in their honor on October 9th.
