DALLAS, OR (KPTV) -

A teacher and soccer coach at Dallas High School is facing charges of luring a minor and second-degree sexual abuse involving a 17-year-old student, according to police.

Kirk David Myrold, 36, of Albany, was arrested Monday after the Dallas Police Department received a report that he was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a female student.

Detectives said they found evidence to support the allegations, leading to Myrold's arrest.

Myrold is a Spanish teacher and coaches the girls soccer team at Dallas High School.

He was booked into the Polk County Jail and later released.

Superintendent Michelle Johnstone said Myrold was pulled from the classroom as soon as they received the police report and subsequently placed on paid administrative leave.

He has been a teacher at Dallas High School for two years.

A letter was sent home to parents about Myrold's arrest.

Anyone with information about the police department's investigation is encouraged to contact Detective Darren Buchholz at 503-831-3516.
