LANE COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Friends and family of a missing 18-year-old from Sublimity are hopeful he’ll be found safe, but they have no idea where he could be.

On Thursday, a search party passed out flyers in Eugene in hopes of finding Trevor Mitchell.

“We all want him to come home,” family friend Nikki Williams said. “His friends and family are very worried, we just want to know he is okay.”

Mitchell was last seen on Sunday around noon. Williams says he was headed to a nearby park to read and hasn’t been seen since.

On Tuesday, his car was found at the Separation Lake Trailhead near the Three Sisters Wilderness area east of Eugene, why it is there is a bit of a mystery.

“There is no connection to that area that we are aware of, or the family is aware of,” Williams said.

Lane County search and rescue crews canvassed the area that evening and returned Wednesday with additional resources, including K-9 teams and the Lane County Sheriff's Office Mounted Posse.

Mitchell is a senior at South Salem High School, where he is an honor student. His disappearance has been tough on some at the school.

“Trevor is known by his teachers and there are some teachers that are struggling and trying to process that,” Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Brian Armstrong said. "Our staff is strong and resilient and they are supporting his classmates and each other through this touch situation.”

Those who know Mitchell are hopeful he’ll return home soon.

“We are as a school hoping and praying that he is found safe because we want him back in class and with his classmates and his friends and peers feel the same way,” Armstrong said.

“Just get Trevor’s name and face out there in hopes that someone recognizes him and gives a clue to where he might be right now because we don’t know,” Williams said.

There has been no new evidence located to indicate Mitchell's whereabouts.

He is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and 135 pounds with sandy blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a navy polo shirt, blue jeans and black Vans shoes.

Anyone who has seen Mitchell since Sunday is asked to call the Lane County Sheriff's Office at 541-682-4141.
