MULTNOMAH COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Multnomah County officials are issuing a warning about a scam they are getting reports of that is targeting people on parole or probation.

According to officials, scammers are calling asking victims to pay for restitution, fees or fines over the phone with a credit card. The scammers then warn that failure to pay will lead to an arrest warrant being issued.

County officials said they would never call and ask for a payment over the phone.

They ask that anyone who receives a call like this to call the police or the Department of Community Justice.
