Portland police have arrested two teens who investigators said shot at two young women early Wednesday morning.

Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau’s Gang Enforcement Team, with assistance from the Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team, arrested 19-year-old McKeever Watkins Thompson and 16-year-old Nico Thomas Thursday.

Police began investigating the case Wednesday when officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 2300 block of Southeast 143rd Avenue just before 3:00 a.m.

At the scene, officers found evidence of gunfire and located two women who said they had been shot at but were not injured.

GET detectives continued the investigation and determined Thompson to be one of the suspects. Investigators located him Thursday and were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence he was in on Northeast Sandy Boulevard.

While taking Thompson and Thomas into custody, police searched the property and seized multiple firearms.

According to court documents, investigators found several firearms hidden on the property and found live ammunition which matched the spent casings at the crime scene flushed down the toilet.

Both men face charges of attempted aggravated murder, attempted murder and unlawful use of a weapon. Thompson also faces a probation violation and was booked into the Multnomah County Jail while Thomas was booked into the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Home.

Police are still investigating this incident, and ask anyone with related information to call the PPB’s Tactical Operations Division at 503-823-4106 or email information to gangs@portlandoregon.gov.
