PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Thousands of people took to the streets of Portland on Sunday to raise money to fight breast cancer.

Sunday was the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The event featured a 10K run, 5K fun run and a 5K walk.

People ran and walked Sunday to honor and remember those in their life that have had breast cancer. One person taking part told Fox 12 how it feels seeing thousands of people coming out for the event.

"It's amazing, it's super inspirational … I got really emotional upon arriving at the race because it's so inspiring that so many people are coming together," said participant Miranda Mikesh.

Seventy-five percent of the money raised goes to saving lives locally through early detection, survivor support and advocacy. The rest goes to help find cures for breast cancer.
