Security video shows new details of dispensary robbery

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Workers at a pot shop in Portland’s Parkrose neighborhood said they were shaken after an ambush-style robbery late Sunday where they were robbed at gunpoint.

On Monday, staff at GreenBuds Dispensary shared the first looks at the tense moments as security cameras were rolling inside the dispensary capturing everything.

Police said they are still looking for the four armed people who charged through the front door and grabbed what they could, one of them staying inside the shop for nearly 10 minutes, while the whole thing was caught on camera.

Store employee Tamir Bankhead said the experience was not what she expected to happen as she was getting ready to head home to her family after a long day at work.

"It just happened so quick,” Bankhead said. “Is it real? Are you actually there?"

For Bankhead and fellow employee Amber Dwitt, closing time left them face to face with several guns.

"I feel violated, disrespected, offended that somebody would run up in here, where I come to work and make money to take care of my son," Dwitt said.

Security camera footage captured the crime as the pair were inside the green buds dispensary around 8:45 p.m. Sunday.

The footage shows four people jump the front counter and start grabbing cash and marijuana. Three of the crooks were in and out in a matter of seconds while the fourth, a woman, spent nearly 10 minutes grabbing whatever she could.

"You don't think about what you are leaving in your wake. You don't think about the people that work here,” Dwitt said. “You don't think about the livelihoods that are being put at stake. You don't think about the children who are at home waiting for their parents."

Store owner Chris Schaaf is thankful this didn't end much worse

“What went through my mind when I saw that was absolute abject horror," he said. "What makes it okay for someone to point a gun at another human being over cash and marijuana? One mistake by the team, one mistake by the robbers, this could have been a totally different interview we are having right now."

Schaaff said he doesn't think the store will be a target again but fears for who else these four could go after.

"I don't even care about getting the money back,” he said. “I just don't want these guys to put somebody else in harm’s way."

The shop was closed Monday while workers tried to figure what exactly was stolen, but the staff said they will be back up and running Tuesday.
