BATTLE GROUND, WA (KPTV) -

Battle Ground Public Schools has received initial results for water testing that indicate elevated levels of lead in some water sources on six campuses.

Battle Ground Public Schools said some samples from Amboy Middle, Captain Strong Primary, Chief Umtuch Middle, Maple Grove, Yacolt Primary, and the Lewisville campus were found to have lead contents above the federal limit.

The district said they have taken immediate action to prohibit drinking from sources that tested above recommended limits.

The district shut off water sources that showed elevated levels and is changing those fixtures. After replacing the fixtures, the district will conduct follow-up testing.

Battle Ground Public Schools said they are working with principals at each of the impacted schools to make appropriate accommodations to make sure students have access to drinking water.
