PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police are still searching for those involved in a shooting near a school in North Portland that left one person dead Monday.

Portland police responded to North Willis Boulevard and Hereford Avenue near Cesar Chavez School around 8:27 p.m. to reports of gunfire.

Officers arrived to find an 18-year-old man dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.

Witnesses told police they heard gunfire and saw the victim running from the area after he was shot.

Neighbors added they heard another man screaming while he was hiding behind a truck after shots were fired.

Officers said they do not have any suspect information at this time.

The Gang Enforcement Team is assisting with the investigation, although gang involvement has not been confirmed.

Anyone with information should contact Portland police. The victim’s name has not been released.

This is the second shooting incident to happen in the Portsmouth neighborhood in less than a week. A man in his 20s was injured at McCoy Park Friday.
