SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A man who shot and killed another man in Salem in 2015 was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Christopher Lauderdale, 29, of Keizer, pleaded guilty last week to charges of first-degree manslaughter and felon in possession of a firearm. He also pleaded no contest to an unlawful use of a weapon charge.

Lauderdale was originally charged with murder for the death of 31-year-old Roderick Adams Jr. on July 9, 2015.

Police responded to reports of a shooting near Southeast Ewald Street and Duplex Court.

Officers arrived and found Adams with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital, but died from his injuries.

Investigators said Lauderdale and Adams were involved in a dispute prior to the shooting.
