LINN COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

A missing mushroom picker in Linn County was found after three days lost in the wilderness when he flagged down a fishing boat.

Search and rescue crews began looking for 58-year-old Oliver Mercer of Lebanon after he was last seen Monday morning.

Investigators said he got turned around after picking mushrooms all day Monday. He traveled more than two miles south down to the Green Peter Reservoir and then traveled more than five miles along the water's edge in hopes of getting back to the Rocky Top Bridge.

At 10 a.m. Thursday, Mercer flagged down a fishing boat. Mercer was then given a ride to the boat dock where he was reunited with his friends.

Mercer told deputies he was unable to start a fire, but the evening temperatures never got too cold. He made a bed out of fir boughs.

Deputies said he was uninjured.

More than 90 people, mostly volunteers, from multiple agencies contributed more than 750 man hours searching for Mercer.
