NEWBERG, OR (KPTV) -

Three people had to be cut out of their vehicles after a head-on crash in Newberg Thursday morning.

Two cars collided at the intersection of Highway 99 and Haugen Road just before noon, according to Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the occupants of the vehicles trapped inside and called for additional crews to help get them out.

It took emergency crews about half an hour to extricate all three people from the vehicles.

One person was taken to Oregon Health and Science University with traumatic injuries and the other two were taken to Providence Newberg Hospital with injuries that firefighters said were not life-threatening.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the crash. Oregon State Police continue to investigate.

Highway 99 was closed for about 45 while emergency crews responded to the crash.
