SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

The Oregon Health Authority reports that marijuana sold at three Oregon dispensaries had pesticide levels that exceeded safety regulations.

Stonies in North Bend and Green-Way Medicinal in Salem each sold two strains of marijuana flower that contained high levels of piperonyl butoxide. The strains were sold under the names Pleeze, batch number G6J0039-02, and Dryzl, batch number G6J0039-01.

The strains were sold to about 250 customers at Stonies between Oct 16-25 and to 90 or so people between Oct 15-23 at Green-Way Medicinal.

The Oregon Health Authority "action level" for the pesticide is 2 parts per million. The affected batches contained 15.39 and 16.24 parts per million, respectively.

The dispensary Flowr of Lyfe in Eugene sold one strain of marijuana that contained the pesticide spinosad at a level of .9 parts per million, with the acceptable level below .2 parts per million.

The strain was sold under the name Dutch Treat, batch number G6J0018-01. Sales of this pesticide-tainted strain occurred between Oct. 15-26 to about 30 mostly recreational customers.

Any customers who purchased these products at the dispensaries during the reported sale periods should check the label of the products they purchased and immediately return any of the tainted products to the dispensaries, or dispose of them in a safe and responsible manner, such as composting them, according to the Oregon Health Authority.

Effects of smoking marijuana containing spinosad or piperonyl butoxide are not known. Those concerned about exposure to spinosad or piperonyl butoxide, or anyone experiencing health problems after using affected marijuana strains, should contact the Oregon Poison Center at 800-222-1222.
