Posted: Updated:

Police are searching for a man who was involved in the armed robbery of a deli in Northeast Portland early Monday.

The Portland Police Bureau said officers responded to Maddy’s at 11252 Northeast Sandy Boulevard around 2:48 a.m.

Employees told police when they arrived that a man armed with a rifle entered the business and demanded money.

Police said the man at one point fired one shot from his rifle during the robbery, but no injuries were reported.

The suspect exited the store with an unknown amount of money and drove away in a silver vehicle.

Later around 3:12 a.m., a homeowner in the area of Northeast 148th Avenue and Stanton Court called 911 and said two people in a silver two-door car had just parked in the neighborhood and ran westbound towards Northeast Rose Parkway. The caller said the two people were wearing hooded sweatshirts and were using flashlights.

K-9 officers and officers on the ground and in the air searched neighborhood but were unable to locate the robbery suspects.

Police said they were able to locate a military-style rifle similar to the one used in the robbery.

The robbery suspect is described as a white male, about 5’10” with a stocky build. He was also wearing a dark sweatshirt and a black mask.
