PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

It's a sure sign that the holiday season is nearly upon us.

Santa Claus traded his sleigh for a big rig Thursday to help deliver the tree that will grace downtown Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square.

Stimson Timber Company donated the 75-foot-tall Douglas fir, which was grown near Gaston.

Once the tree is installed, pruned and primped, crews will adorn it with more than 14,000 multicolored LED lights.

The 32nd annual tree-lighting ceremony will take place on Friday, Nov. 25th at 5:30 p.m.

The event is free and includes a holiday song sing-a-long with Thomas Lauderdale and other members of Pink Martini.
