Southern Oregon murder suspect arrested in southern California

A southern Oregon murder suspect was arrested in southern California.

Deputies responded to a shooting on the 500 block of Waldo Road in O'Brien IN Josephine County on Nov. 4.

Jason A. George, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene. It was determined he died from a gunshot wound.

George is originally from North Carolina, but has been living in Cave Junction for the last few years.

A homicide investigation was launched and detectives identified Lieth Samir Mohammad, 29, of North Hollywood, California, as a person of interest in the case.

On Tuesday, police in Burbank, California arrested Mohammad on an unrelated charge and he was booked into the Los Angeles County Jail. On Thursday, an Oregon arrest warrant was served on Mohammad in connection to the deadly shooting.

Mohammad now faces charges in Oregon including aggravated murder with a firearm, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and felon in possession of a firearm.

Police did not release any further details about the investigation.
