Caelin Niebergall is not your average teenager.
Instead of shopping or hanging out with friends, this Glencoe High School gymnast spends most of her spare time raising money for trips to India.
Between training as a Level 9 gymnast and teaching at the Flight School Gymnastics Center in Hillsboro, Niebergall is no stranger to dedication and kindness.
“It’s fun teaching them how to get to my level, hopefully where I am now,” she said.
Not only does she work with kids in her own community, but Niebergall also helps kids across the world.
She and her mom, Ranae, have volunteered at an orphanage in India for the past five years.
During her trips, Niebergall plays with kids and simply listens.
“Most of their parents have died and no one is left to take care of them,” she said. “It’s heartbreaking.”
The young gymnast has raised nearly $15,000 for her next trip to India, where she hopes to continue making a difference in children’s lives.
