PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The human remains found Friday near the Tooth Rock Trailhead in the Columbia River Gorge have been confirmed to be from a missing 21-year-old Portland woman.

The state medical examiner has confirmed that the remains are those of Annie Schmidt, who was the focus of searches by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and Schmidt’s family.

According to the medical examiner, the cause of death was blunt force trauma, and the examiner said the death looks accidental. Investigators said there were no signs of foul play.

Schmidt was reported missing on October 19 and being last seen by her roommate on October 16. Her vehicle was found near Bonneville Dam on October 20.

Schmidt’s family posted a message on social media Saturday that they had been notified of the find.
