PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A 14-year-old boy is facing charges of attempted murder for shooting a protester on the Morrison Bridge early Saturday morning, according to police.

Investigators said the 21-year-old victim was shot in the leg at around 1 a.m. Saturday. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Investigators said multiple shots were fired.

Later Saturday morning, an off-duty officer spotted the suspect vehicle near Northeast 102nd Avenue and Sandy Boulevard.

Four people were detained and two 18-year-olds were subsequently arrested.

On Monday, police said one of the initial suspects, Steffon Marquese Corothers, was set to be released from jail after further investigation determined he was not the suspected shooter.

On Monday, Gang Enforcement Team detectives said a 14-year-old boy is the shooting suspect. The underage suspect was taken to the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Center on charges of attempted murder and unlawful use of a weapon.

A second suspect arrested Saturday, Shamar Xavier Hunter, is facing charges in connection with this shooting and another shooting that occurred Nov. 1 near Northeast 115th Avenue and Sandy Boulevard, according to police.

Investigators said he was the driver Saturday.

Detectives described the suspects as "criminal gang associates" and said a TEC-9 firearm was found inside their car.

Police said the victim is not affiliated with any gangs and the suspects were not believed to be upset about the continuing protests in Portland. Instead, a Portland Police Bureau spokesman said the suspects, "may have been out looking for trouble."
