After several protests and rallies against the presidential election of Donald Trump, Oregon Governor Kate Brown expressed in a video a message of unity amongst Oregonians.

In the video posted on YouTube Monday, Governor Brown addresses the recent political conflicts, stating that hatred “has no place in the Oregon we love.”

"In Oregon, we will not let the politics of hate interfere with our aspirations for a more perfect union," Brown said.

She continued to stress the importance of recognizing commonalities rather than differences.

Governor Brown said she understands many Oregonians are expressing feelings of uncertainty and promises to uphold laws protecting their human and civil rights.

“I refuse to let hate and discrimination divide our state and our people,” she said.
