CORVALLIS, OR (KPTV) -

An armed robber is on the loose after confronting a Safeway worker in Corvallis with a gun.

Officers and deputies responded to Subway on the 2300 block of Northwest 9th Street at 8:55 p.m. Sunday.

The robber confronted an employee with a handgun. The employee immediately ran to the back room of the business.

One other worker was in the building, but no customers were inside at the time.

The suspect ran away through the north exit side door.

A surveillance image from the robbery was released Tuesday.

The suspect is described as a white man, possibly in his 30s, standing between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall with a thin to medium build and strawberry blond hair.

He was wearing a long black jacket with a collar, white baseball cap, blue jeans, black shoes with white soles, purple latex-style food handler gloves and he had his face covered with a blue bandana and sunglasses.

The suspect was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.

A witness saw the man run away and said he removed his long black coat and carried it in his arms. Underneath the coat he was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with a logo similar to Mossy Oak on the back.

Officers, deputies and a K-9 team searched the area, but did not locate the robber.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Detective Gabriel Sapp at 541-766-6976.
