PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The first After School Satan Club (ASSC) meeting was held at Parkrose Middle School Monday night.

The ASSC, which was approved in September, is meant to provide an alternative to other after-school religious groups.

FOX 12 wasn't allowed into the meeting but we spoke with the co-founder of The Satanic Temple, Lucien Greaves.

Greaves says the clubs say it's not about devil worship but the separation of church and state.

"We have a separation of church and state and when the school district allows one religious group to go in and that goes unquestioned by other religious groups, it does give the impression that this certain religious perspective is endorsed by the school district," said Greaves.

On Wednesday, The Satanic Temple Portland chapter will hold an open house at Sacramento Elementary School.

Concerned parents will also be holding a peaceful protest on Wednesday against the club.
