It is starting to look like a Winter Wonderland up at Mount Hood.

The area was blanketed with more snow overnight Tuesday, and more is expected throughout Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. Wednesday for areas above 3,000 feet.

Tuesday was the first time this season the snow levels hit the mountain passes, and residents are hoping this snow is here to stay.

“This is really nice, hope this storm is the one,” said local Sabrina Bishop.

As of 6 a.m. Wednesday, six inches of new snow was reported at Government Camp, seven inches at Mt. Hood Skibowl, nine inches at Mount Hood Meadows, and 10 inches at Timberline Lodge.

The NWS said drivers should be prepared for snow-covered roads and potentially hazardous driving conditions along US-26 near Government Camp and Highway 58 near Willamette Pass.

According to the Oregon Department of Transportation site, drivers should carry chains, know how to use them and to also to check road conditions before driving.

Snow levels are expected to rise above pass levels by Friday. For the latest weather reports, visit our FOX 12 Weather website
