PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Two Timbers players are leaving the pitch for the front office.

The Timbers announced that Jack Jewsbury and Ned Grabavoy will remain with the club following their retirements as players.

Jewsbury will be the director of business development for the Timbers.

Jewsbury retired after a 14-year playing career. He is one of only 10 MLS players to play in 350 or more games in league history.

In his new role, Jewsbury will serve as a project lead for the club's corporate partnerships department, helping develop new sponsorship opportunities. Additionally, Jewsbury becomes an official ambassador for Portland's community platform, Stand Together, and will serve as the lead spokesperson for Stand Together Week, as well as working as the project lead for the club's Fields for All project, the Rose City Road Trip and other regional and statewide outreach initiatives.

Joining the Timbers ahead of their MLS expansion season in 2011, Jewsbury, 35, tallied 157 appearances with 139 starts in six seasons with Portland, including 26 appearances and 18 starts in the team's MLS Cup-winning campaign in 2015.

Grabavoy has been named the director of scouting and recruitment for the Timbers.

Grabavoy joined the Timbers as the first MLS free agent player signing in team history ahead of the 2016 season. Grabavoy played 13 years in the league, tallying 301 games with six different clubs and was part of two MLS Cup championship teams.

In his role on the Timbers’ technical staff, Grabavoy will oversee the identification and evaluation of prospective professional and collegiate players, managing a team of scouts for early identification and recruitment.

Additionally, Grabavoy will collaborate with the Timbers’ technical staff to further develop target markets for recruiting players – both domestically and internationally – for each level within the club’s developmental pyramid.
