VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

Vandals targeted a Vancouver school with hateful graffiti, and now the Clark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crime.

The message contained profanity that targeted Asians, blacks, gays and lesbians, and was found on the back side of Skyview High School early Tuesday morning.

Deputies said that someone called 911 to report the vandalism, adding that they did not see a suspect when responding to the call.

According to the sheriff’s office, security cameras did pick up a person of interest who may have been the one that vandalized the school.

Deputies say they are still deciding whether to release the photo, which they say is that of a young man.

Skyview officials worked to clean off the graffiti early Tuesday morning. They also sent out letters to parents, teachers and students saying school leaders are saddened by the hate speech and that the message doesn’t represent the school or students.

The principal told students that the school embraces diversity and that he will do everything in his power to protect all students.

Students told FOX 12 that they are also upset that someone would target their school in this way.

Anyone with info on the crime should call the Clark County Sheriff’s Office at 877-274-6311.
