A police K-9 on the Oregon Coast helped capture a man wanted for criminal mischief.

Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies were called to the Siletz Trailer Park at about 8:15 Sunday morning.

Investigators say 37-year-old Benjamin Palm, of Newport, took property from someone and destroyed it. Deputies had been looking for Palm since Nov. 17 after he fled from a Toledo Police traffic stop. He was wanted by his probation officer out of Benton County.

Deputies searching for Palm saw him run into a wooded area. With the help of K-9 Bonni and handler Deputy Gautney, deputies were able to track Palm, who was trying to escape through a blackberry patch.

Palm was then taken into custody without further incident and faces criminal mischief charges. He is being held on a probation hold in the Lincoln County Jail.
