VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

An arson suspect was arrested for setting off bombs in the parking lot of a Vancouver apartment complex, according to police.

Police responded to reports of explosions at the Sir James Apartment Complex on the 11000 block of Northeast 18th Street on July 29 and Oct. 2.

In each case, police said a car was intentionally damaged. In the October case, police said they found a water bottle with a gasoline odor at the scene.

An arson investigation led police to identify the suspect as Pedro Franco-Gonzalez.

A warrant was served at Franco-Gonzalez's apartment and police said they recovered numerous pounds of explosive materials, several improvised explosive devices, guns and drugs.

Franco-Gonzalez was booked into the Clark County Jail on Friday on charges of first-degree arson, possession of prohibited explosive devices and possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver.

He made his first court appearance Monday.

Police said additional search warrants have yet to be served in this case and additional charges are expected.

The Southwest Washington SWAT team, Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit, Domestic Violence Unit and Metro Explosive Disposal Unit assisted in the investigation and service of the search warrant.
