HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who fled from the Washington County Community Corrections Center after cutting off his GPS monitor.

Aaron James Emery, 30, was arrested October 18 after DNA evidence connected him to a sexual assault case in Aloha from March 2015 involving a teenager.

Emery was charged with public indecency and sexual abuse in the third degree. He bailed out of jail but was then moved to the Washington County Community Corrections Center in order to finish serving time on an unrelated felony fourth-degree assault case.

According to the sheriff’s office, inmates like Emery can leave during the day for work or to attend treatment sessions, and Emery had left to go to his job at a restaurant.

Deputies said that at some point Emery cut the GPS monitor and failed to return to the corrections center. A no-bail warrant for parole violation was issued for his arrest.

According to the sheriff’s office, Emery has a distinctive tattoo on the back of his left hand that may assist people with identifying him. Deputies ask anyone who sees Emery to not approach him but rather call 911.
