PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Nearly two weeks after the presidential election, protesters were once again taking to the streets of Portland.

Portland Public Schools students began gathering at Holladay Park in northeast Portland at 3 p.m. Monday. Members of activist group Portland's Resistance were also part of the rally.

By 5 p.m. the group began marching.

As protesters filled the roadway, police ordered them to move to the sidewalks. Those commands appeared to be ignored, however.

Marchers carried signs and chanted messages against President-elect Donald Trump.

The protesters marched onto the Burnside Bridge and momentarily sat down in the street. Police said adults in the march were encouraging the younger members to block traffic as they moved toward downtown.

Police said arrests were being made near the Multnomah County Courthouse. Parents were urged by officers to contact their children and remove them from the protest march.

Police said officers saw activist leader Gregory McKelvey, 23, and Don't Shoot PDX leader Micah Rhodes, 23, encouraging and directing student protesters to counter lawful police orders.

Officers arrested McKelvey at Southwest 5th Avenue and Salmon Street and then arrested Kathryn Stevens, 24, after she tried to interfere with McKelvey's arrest.

McKelvey was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of disorderly conduct in the second degree. Stevens was also booked into the Multnomah County Jail and charged with disorderly conduct in the second degree and interfering with a peace officer.

Police said Rhodes was arrested later at Southwest 2nd Avenue and Madison Street. He was booked into Multnomah County Jail and charge with disorderly conduct in the second degree and interfering with a peace officer.

The protest came to an end at PPB's Central Precinct. A handful of students stood outside the building as a sign of solidarity for those arrested.

Protesters had filled Portland streets every night for nearly a week following the election, leading to a riot, clashes with police and dozens of arrests
