A homeowner was taken to the hospital as a precaution after a house fire in Milwaukie.

The fire started at around 1:30 p.m. on the 5200 block of King Road. Roads were closed in the area as crews responded to the scene.

Firefighters said a homeowner saw a flash from an electrical outlet and could smell smoke in her home. She called 911 and firefighters arrived at the scene and found the woman outside, with heavy black smoke coming from the front door.

Firefighters went inside and found the fire spreading from a back bedroom to an upstairs living area.

Crews cut two holes in the roof for ventilation and the fire was brought under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters said the homeowner agreed to go by ambulance to the hospital to get checked out. No firefighters were injured.
